An archaeologically excavated but otherwise unspecified shelter (or cave where humans took shelter) yielded charcoal dated to 5800 cal BP (DERANIYAGALA 2002: 5 after Adikari 1998). SITUATION: In the lowland Dry Zone (DERANIYAGALA 2002: 5) at an unspecified distance of 5 km (either along a route or in a direct line) approximately west of Sigiriya and, apparently, at a location spatially related to a place called Potana (note 1).An archaeologically excavated but otherwise unspecified shelter (or cave where humans took shelter) yielded charcoal dated to 5800 cal BP (DERANIYAGALA 2002: 5 after Adikari 1998).
