Description
An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) was said (Brooks, J A and Becher, A S 1998.03.05 personal communication) to lead to a relatively »wide« (note 1) and north-north-west (350°) aligned rift with a sand-covered floor in a crawl / stoop round a self-centered person's »left-hand side« and to a relatively »big« (sic!) boulder, which may be smaller of larger than an elephant or a mouse. At an advanced stage of cave invasion, expedition cavers can negotiate a 5 m climb up or down but in an unidentified direction »ahead« to a relatively »narrow rifts« with unidentified dimensions. These rifts are, depending on circumstances, on a self-centered person's »right-hand side« (note 2) and lead to a relatively low, joint-controlled cave passage full of »conglomerate« (or so). Towards one or the other »right-hand side« (sic!) of a Henry (note 3), a relatively small 5 m long cave passage bends at a right angle back towards an interesting boulder choke at the bottom of a cliff face. Daylight is visible from within the cave. Altogether overcome were an estimated 25 m of cave passages. SITUATION: North-east of the Mahabon caves 2a and 2b, and near Chiehruphi (25°12'36”N: 092°22'22”E) and west of what had been in March 1998 the kilometre stone 120 of the Jowai - Sonapur road (NH44). The entrance is located in a more or less east-west running valley with fluted limestone outcrops capped by a sandstone. A stream, probably rather of water than of blue eyed admirers, emerges on the northern bank of this valley and flows from the cave across the valley floor to sink in Krem Mahabon 4.
NOTE 1: Dimensions such as "wide" or "narrow" on their own could be misleading as they depend on which state of mind one was. NOTE 2: Directions such as "left" and "right" could be misleading depending on which way one was facing. NOTE 3: »All boulders are called "Henrys" but maybe this one is special« (Anthony 'Tony' R Jarratt 2000.03.15 personal correspondence).
History
EXPLORATION HISTORY: 1998.03.05: Lucky Dkhar and Robert Lal from Chiehruphi guided Brian D. Kharpran Daly, Jennifer 'Jenni' or 'Jenny' A. Brooks and Anette Susanne Becher to one of the cave entrances collectively recorded as »Krem Mahabon« (Kharpran Daly B D, Brooks J A & Becher S A 1998.03.05 personal communication).
