NOTE 1: A populated place called »Anal Namfu« (HODSON, T C 1911 / 1989: 16) is not identified but some 1.1 % of the people in Manipur speak »Anal« (de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manipur, accessed 2014.10.06, after CENSUS OF INDIA 2001). NOTE 2: »Shugano« (HODSON, T C 1911 / 1989: 16) is indicated as »Shuganu« near N24°18': E093°52' (nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003) both on AMS sheet NG46-15 Imphal (U502 series, 1960 edition) and in the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006: 64 B1).

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 28/03/2016

The people of Anal Namfu (note 1), a village which lies in an unspecified spatial relation »close to Shugano« or Shuganu (note 2), take their legendary origin from »a cave on the slopes of Haobiching hill in the south« (HODSON, T C 1911 / 1989: 16). Keyword: Emergence cave. SITUATION: At an unidentified location somewhere »on the slopes of Haobiching hill« (HODSON, T C 1911 / 1989: 16) and the "ching" (hill) is indicated as »Haobi Hill« near (±1 km) 24°12'39”N: 93°44'E (AMS sheet NG46-15 Imphal, U502 series, 1960 edition) above the west bank of the Manipur River and at a spot which lies about 15 km in a direct line southwest of Shuganu (24°18'N: 93°52'E) and overlooking Loktak Lake and Imphal (70 km NNE) from the south.
