Description
An unspecified cave (possibly a man-made rock chamber or a nicely bombable bunker) is positioned under the title Sangar (note 1) at a spot about 29 km in a direct line west-southwest of Peshawar City (N34°00'30”: E071°34'22” WGS84), close to one of the places marked Tandai (compare: Cave in the –>Tindi area) on AMS sheet NI42-12 Kohat (U502 series, 1959 edition) above the left (north) bank of Bara River, and a kilometre south of –>Babara Cave or a kilometre north-east of –>Gandao Cave. ETYMOLOGY: ROBERTS (1897 edited 1898: Forty-one years in India.- chapter 35 -Umbeyla [note 2] expedition 1863- note 18: This hill, which was crowded with Hindustani fanatics and their Pathan allies, was a most formidable position; the sides were precipitous, and the summit was strengthened by sangars.[stone breastwork].
