What may represent a closed depression (doline) in laterite --if it is not a simple back-water pool-- places C. Kunhi Kannam (in LOGAN 1887-1891, 2 Kurumbranad taluk page cccxviii) in Velam amsam (note 1) and at a (travelling?) distance of 12 miles (19 km) approximately south-east of Badagara (N11°36': E075°35'), where there is a reservoir of fresh water locally known Tura, which is 1,080 feet [329 m] long by 218 feet [66 m] wide [and] fabled to have been excavated by the Pandus [the Pandava brothers of Mahabharata fame] in pre-historic period.What may represent a closed depression (doline) in laterite --if it is not a simple back-water pool-- places C.
