The whole length of the about 30 km or 35 km long »Sargi River« regard ADYALKAR et al. as a »good example of karstic resurgence [note 1] in nature« (ADYALKAR & PHADTARE 1972: 385) and as a »good example of karstic resurgences in the Raipur Basin« (ADYALKAR & RAMANNA 1980: 50). Compare –>Kharun Karstic Resurnce, –>Kurar Resurgence, and –>Sitli Resurgence. SITUATION: To locate the »Sargi river near Rajim« (ADYALKAR & RAMANNA 1980: 50) is a little vague as the 30 km or 35 km long Sargi Nadi (note 2) lies, at it's closest, 12 km in a direct line east of Rajim (note 3).

NOTE 1: Resurgence: »Type of spring [point where underground water emerges on to the surface] fed at least partly by sinking streams whose water is thus returning to daylight, as opposed to exsurgences fed only by percolation water« (LOWE & WALTHAM 1995: 30). NOTE 2: »Sargi river« (ADYALKAR & PHADTARE 1972: 385; ADYALKAR & RAMANNA 1980: 50) is indicated as »Sargi Nadi« on AMS sheet NF44-15 Dhamtari (U502 series, 1955 edition) rises near N20°49': E081°58' and joins near N21°04': E082°00' the east (orographically right) bank of the Mahanadi River. NOTE 3: Rajim N20°57'57”: E081°52'51” (WGS84 nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003) is indicated on AMS sheet NF44-15 and in the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006: 86 D2) at a travelling distance of 50 km south-east of Raipur (N21°14': E081°38') and opposite across the Mahanadi from Nawapara / Nawapara Rajim (N20°58'09”: E081°51'55” WGS84 nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003).
