The first of altogether four rock shelters in conglomerate rocks, which Laumanns & Breitenbach (2006.04.15 Mss) place at an unspecified location somewhere (note 1) on a hill north of Lakha Mandal, appears to correspond either to 1st) … one of the other rock shelters west of Lakha Mandal [which] have been walled off with bricks and are used to house goats, cows and buffaloes (Scherzer 1991.11 Mss) or to 2nd) … the –>Raja Haristhan Gupha of Scherzer, U (1991.11 Mss) or to the 3rd) Lakhamandal: Cave [of the dimension] 20-25 [feet, 6 m or 7.5 m large, where], cattle live [at a walking distance of] 21 miles (34 km) from Chakrata (30°42'N: 77°51'E) recorded by the Tahsildar of Chakrata (1941.02.05 Mss). CAVE DESCRIPTION: Four separate rock shelters do not even need a torch [flashlight] for a visit. EXPLORATION HISTORY: 1941.02.05: The Chakrata Tahsildar (1941.02.05 Mss Letter to Glennie, E A) reported from Lakhamandal a cave where cattle live. 1991: Uwe Scherzer (1991.11 Mss: Tabelle der erforschten Höhlen der Expe '91) visited and explored, estimating a cave length of 2 m. 2006.03.29: Sebastian F.
