Description
»A small and narrow cave of 100 feet [or an estimated 30.5 m] long with usual water in the bed and an idol in the far end of the cave. Falls in sheet 63 P/6, village Beynath which lies about 20 miles S.E. [circa 30 km south-east] of Robertsganj [note 1]. Beynath lies on the north bank of the Son at 24°31'N: 83°16'E [note 2]. Information obtained from the village chowkidar« (Survey of India Superintendent Hashmie, M N A 1946.02.21 Mss).
NOTE 1: Robertsganj town 24°42'N: 83°04'E on the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006: 57 G1). NOTE 2: »Beynath« (Hashmie, M N A 1946.02.21 Mss) is indicated as Baijnath near N24°32': E83°17' on AMS sheet NG44-16 Garwa (U502 series, 1962 editon) and about 10 km in a direct line ESE of Bijaigarh Fort (24°35'N: 83°12'E).
