Description
An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) is said to give access to a kind of cave with edible bats. SITUATION: Unidentified. Apparently above the banks of the Nisti Khola (Central Service Map sheet 47 Palpa, 1989 edition) or Burba Nadi (AMS sheet NG44-04 Tansing, U502 series, 1958 edition), a tributary to the orographically right (locally south) bank of the Kali Gandaki (Kaligandaki River). POSITION: Siluwa V.D.C, Siluwa Bat Cave, N 27°47’08.3”, E 083°48’33.6”, elevation 781 (ADHIKARI, H 2011). CULTURAL HISTORY - human use, food source: The bats in this cave are greatly threatened by the local people as they kill the bat using gun for the source of meat [note 1] (ADHIKARI, H 2011: 15). CAVE LIFE - bats (Chiroptera): The Siluwa Bat Cave is considered a probable site for Rhinolophus sinicus, based on the interview of the local people, and the photo identified by them. … only 5 to 10 individuals wer flying on the top of the cave (>25 m). They were fully confident on Rhinolophus sinicus, when photos of other Rhinolophus species found in Nepal were also shown to them.
