Description
Cave dwellings are scattered throughout Sri Lanka … and … these caves incluse those at Paramakanda in the Puttalam district … (CEYLON TRAVELLER 1974: 249; 1983: 251). ETYMOLOGY: The Sinhala -kanda- means a hill. SITUATION: nima.mil/geonames (accessed 16.11.2003) had positioned under Paramakanda not only one village at N07°55': E080°00' but also RKS (conspicuous, isolated rocky masses) at N07°54': E080°00' (WGS84) in the lowlands south-east of Puttalam (N08°02': E079°49') and north-north-west of Anamaduwa (N07°52'39”: E080°00'52” WGS84).
