Description
Curious man-made cylinders (0.9 m wide and 1.8 to 2.4 m deep), hewn from solid rock, interpreted YATE, C E (1888: 284) as water powered mills situated in the village of Shadian (Shadyan, Sadyan): … but how they worked none of us can tell. One idea to me was that, owing to the scant supply of water in the rills about, the water was collected in these stone cylinders so as to bear with greater pressure on the mill below; but this is only a supposition.
History
EXPLORATION HISTORY: 1886 August: Major Charles Edward YATE (1888: 248) observed curious stone cylinders.
