GURGINA SUBTERRANEAN CHAMBER
29.450000,66.350000
Description
A -remarkable subterranean chamber- of dubious nature and origin is situated in the district of -Gurghina- (note 1) and once was discovered some years since by workmen employed in the construction of a karez. To their astonishment, they penetrated into an immense excavation, supposed to be artificial … entirely devoid of sculpture or embellishment. It was conjured to have been a retreat of refugees in time of war [note 2], at some remote period. Probably, it was a cementry or temple, of past ages (MASSON, C 1842-1844, III: 390). Masson did not visit -Gurghina- (note 3) but has it marked on the accompanying map (Vol. III) on the route from Kalat (29°02'N: 66°35'N) via Garuk (on the western route to Mangachar or Mungachar), Kur (note 4), and via Gurgina and Galangur (29°36'N: 66°17'E on the Nushki - Kurdakap / Kardagap route) to Nushki.A -remarkable subterranean chamber- of dubious nature and origin is situated in the district of -Gurghina- (note 1) and once was discovered some years since by workmen employed in the construction of a karez.
