Description
An estimated 50 feet deep cave-like hole (SHILLONG TIMES 2011.12.02: Two bodies recovered) may either consist of an estimated 15 m deep pothole or, alternatively, of an estimated 15 m long cave passage which leads into an unexplored cave. ETYMOLOGY: Since the Synteng Khasi (Pnar) expression -moo la diang- combines the noun rock with [to which] belongs and the verb to receive (note 1), the cave name -krem muladiang- may denote a disposal hole (or so). SITUATION: At an unspecified location and setting somewhere inside the Mooladiang Forest near Lakasein village [note 2] in Jaintia Hills district (SHILLONG TIMES 2011.12.02). CAVE DESCRIPTION: On the one-hand side a cave-like hole and on the other a 50-feet deep hole inside the forest (SHILLONG TIMES 2011.12.02). EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2011.10.30, trip 1: A group of Umkyrpong villagers got rid of one Nimon Paslein, who had been on charges of being Menshohnoh or keeper of U Thlen, by disposing his already dead or up till then more or less alive body inside a cave-like hole inside the Mooladiang Forest (SHILLONG TIMES 2011.12.02). 2011 November (circa), trip 2: … the body of Nimon Paslein was pulled out from the same place by his relatives following an appeal made by his sister to the local headman. The body was later handed over to the relatives who performed the last rites on November 13 (SHILLONG TIMES 2011.12.02). 2011.12.01, Thursday, trip 4: A Saipung Police team led by C S Shylla (Officer in charge), in the presence of Dorin Phawa (Extra Additional Commissioner, Khliehriat), Dr Nidamon Pahoh (Medical Officer) and G Wahlang (Khliehriat Circle Inspector), recovered two unidentified bodies from inside a cave-like hole inside the Mooladiang Forest near Lakasein village and pulled out the highlydecomposed bodies from a 50-feet deep hole inside the forest … (SHILLONG TIMES 2011.12.02).
