A cave called Krem Thohmyrhu is reputedly used for fishing during the monsoons (Kharpran Daly 2004.07.18 Mss). ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi verb -thoh- means to cut trees; to write, to make a mark; to take with the tip of the finger and the adjective -thoh- means having a mark or spot while the noun -ka thoh- is an ornamental edging or border of a garment; a mark, a spot (SINGH, N 1906: 228). The Khasi or Synteng term -myrhu- is not identified as it is not listed by SINGH, N (1906: 228). SITUATION: At an unknown location which lies in an unidntified spatial relation -near- one of the villages of Nongthymmai (N25°18'45”: E092°21'25” WGS84) or Nongthymmai-rim (N25°20'20”: E092°22'10” WGS84) and Nongthymme (note 1) which are reached by taking a road off to the west short of reaching Myndihati (note 2) or Myndai Hati (note 3).A cave called Krem Thohmyrhu is reputedly used for fishing during the monsoons (Kharpran Daly 2004.07.18 Mss).
