HAZARSUM, Ruyi Doab

The suspicious place name Hazarsum (thousand homes / caves) in the Kholm (Khulm) River valley is indicated on the AIMS sheet PI-42-02 (May 2002) and positioned as Hazar Som and Hazar- Sum at N35°43'25”: E067°48'53” (WGS84, nima.mil/geonames accessed 2003.10.04). The Sum-i- Sangi, or rocky caves reported YATE (1888: 322) from some way off to the south-west of Haibak (Aybak) but unfortunately we have had no time to visit these.
