Description
A tiny rock shelter (1.89 m wide, 1.22 m high, 1.8 m long) with plastered, man-made walls partly painted with orange coloured enamel, is used as temple cave sacred to Ganesha. SITUATION: At the outskirts of Gokarneshwar village (8.6 km in a direct line north-east of Kathmandu). The south- facing cave entrance lies 5 m below the road and immediately above a small "tank" (water reservoir) above a dam barring the course of Bagmati river which exits here from a small gorge. Listed by KNAB (1990: 4-5, no. N4, with cave plan). Compare the cave of the –>Matrikas (Sundarijal).
