KALIPOOL (Cave at)
28.333300,83.566700
Description
Three cave entrances give access to a relatively small, obviously modified natural cave, which seems to have formed at the tectonically stressed contact of local river terrace conglomerates with base phyllites, and subsequently was artificially improved by man. Two of the cave entrances give access to an inhabitable cell, apparently a miniature one-man cave-dwelling. with remants of mud plastering. The third, very tiny cave entrance close by, was too exposed in the cliff above to be reached. SITUATION:Above the orographically left (eastern) bank of Kali Gandaki river and about 100 m south of the Kalipool (or Kalipul) bridge near Beni (). CAVE LIFE: In April 1990 several Harvestmen (Daddy long-legs; Arachnida: Opiliones) ducked in depressions on the ceiling and walls.
