Description

A sacred cave or rock shelter (temple cave) without identified nature, dimensions or character mentions DIEMBERGER (1990 edited 1993: 64) in connection with ruins of a relatively large Nyingmapa monastery [note 1] built around and incorporating a holy cave at Gangla (Gangs-la, Gangs-lha, Gangs-ra), the residence of tantric mystics. SITUATION: DIEMBERGER (1990 edited 1993: 64) places Gangla at a distance of a few hours walk from the Langma la (note 2), a 5200 m high pass, which she crossed on her route from Kharta (note 3) south via the Karmachu or Karma Chhu (note 4) to the beyul (sBas-yul) or -hidden valley- of –>Khanpalung (mKhan pa lung, mKhan-pa-lung, Khenbalung, Khembalung). DIEMBERGER (1990 edited 1993: 64-65): From Gangla, crossing the pass of the -turquoise dragons- or Yudrug La (g.Yu-'brug la), the site of the -life-water- can be reached in a few hours. Compare the troglodyte rock shelter –>Tsewang Phug (tshe-dbang phug) at Tshechu (tshe-chu).A sacred cave or rock shelter (temple cave) without identified nature, dimensions or character mentions DIEMBERGER (1990 edited 1993: 64) in connection with ruins of a relatively large Nyingmapa monastery [note 1] built around and incorporating a holy cave at Gangla (Gangs-la, Gangs-lha, Gangs-ra), the residence of tantric mystics.
