Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

A hole emitting a relatively strong draught (air current) from a very tight descending hole, which could be pushed by a thin caver, is situated at an unspecified travelling distance --perhaps on foot or by flying carpet-- of an estimated one hour more or less south-west from the Army Post Sharon Jogizai / Jogezay (note 1) in the Toba Kakar Range (note 2). SITUATION: Unknown. At an unidentified location somewhere in the vicinity of a place, near a village or in an area with an unidentified name, which is perhaps called something along the lines of Surwai Chawda (Brooks, S J 1997 Mss: Pakistan Cave Database). ETYMOLOGY: The Derbyshire English -surwai- and Farsi (Balochi, Pashtu, etc.) -sarwai- seems to be related with the words -sar- (literally -head- but also spring, peak, rock) and -wai- (arch, bridge, way, tunnel) but there is not one single place spelled -Chawd…- anywhere in Pakistan (note 3).CAVE LEGEND (fabulous tunnel): The blowinghole is reputed to connect with another similar -ave- about 2 km away on far side of hill (Brooks, S J 1997 Mss: Pakistan Cave Database).ave- about 2 km away on far side of hill (Brooks, S J 1997 Mss: Pakistan Cave Database).
