Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

A cave entrance (about 2 by 2 m large), which faces an unidentified direction, leads to some 55 m of cave passage draining to the east by east-southeast. ETYMOLOGY: Compare –>Chignap Kol, –>Chignap Sink (Dapsi Toligri), –>Chignup Kol, –>Chitopa Rongkol and –>Dobhakol (Chignap).SITUATION: Chitokpa Rongkol (note 1) lies at an unidentified distance (note 2) east of Chignup Kol (Rogers 2001.03.21, personal communication) or, except for the last few metres (Tyler 2001.10.11 personal correspondence), at the same location as Chignap Kol (i.e. –>Dobhakol, Chignap). CAVE DESCRIPTION: An entrance passage (2 by 2 m, 11 m long, circa 215°, -45°) leads to a 7 m drop into a trunk passage (37 m long), which leads upstream (circa 285°) to a (boulder?) choke. A small stream meanders across the sandy floor and disappears into the downstream (c. 105°) choke which needs another look. CAVE CLIMATE: Air temperature 19.2°C, daytime 2001.02.20. CAVE LIFE: Bats (Chiroptera: Microchiroptera).A cave entrance (about 2 by 2 m large), which faces an unidentified direction, leads to some 55 m of cave passage draining to the east by east-southeast. History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2001.02.20: Guided by Livingstone Marak and Gardun Marak, it was Adora Thabah, assisted by Colin Rogers, who watched bats (Tyler 2001.05.29 Mss), while Andrew 'Andy' Peter Tyler and Wanpher Pyrbot 'surveyed' 55 m of cave passage to a degree yielding a 'survey' (total sum of survey leg lengths) but no cave survey (cave plan).
