THAKOOR DWARA (Caves near)

An unidentified number of inhabitable but otherwise unspecified caves or rude holes (HERVEY 1853, 1: 172) of which nothing is known except that they have been looked at on 17th July 1850. SITUATION: Somewhere in the vicinity of a village called Gheea, or Gya (country of Ladak) where there is an odd-looking building, like an eagle's nest, called the Thâkoor Dwâra (note 1) and in a setting near the banks of the river (HERVEY 1853, 1: 172) of which the name given … is Teenung Tokpo [note 2], and it joins the Singhey Choo (or Indus), a few miles further down the valley [note 3], at Oopshee [note 4] (HERVEY 1853, 1: 171).
