Description
A »… good example of a karstic resurgence« (ADYALKAR & RAMANNA 1980: 50) seems to be a case of intra-alluvial percolation through unconsolidated fluvial sediments trapped in a buried limestone basin (crypto-doline). The intra-alluvial percolation contributes to the flow of the Kharun river at unspecified points near Raipur (N21°14': E081°38'). IDENTITY: The Kharun »karstic resurgence« (note 1) is possibly identical with the –>Raipur Artesian Resurgence.
NOTE 1: Resurgence: »Type of spring [point where underground water emerges on to the surface] fed at least partly by sinking streams whose water is thus returning to daylight, as opposed to exsurgences fed only by percolation water« (LOWE & WALTHAM 1995: 30).
