Description
Mount Cameroon) Co-ordinates: E 009°11'57”; S 4°11'45”. Alt. 2,920 m. In 1986 Claude-François Robert (1987) briefly explored Grotte de Gaskin for 175 m but did not reach the end. The lava tube cave was already mentioned to be 150 m long by B.Géze (1939, 1943), who visited the mountain in 1939 together with Paulian and Viliers. They mentioned other small lave tube caves on Mount Cameroon (where 6 lava caves are currently known, one of which was discovered by Lips 1994) and south of Mount Isabelle, another Cameroon volcano. First map was published by the Spanish expedition in 1990 (Ferrer Martinez 1996), who called the cave „Cueva Monte Camerun III“. They reported a length of 433 m and a depth of +/-70 m. Length according to Mouret (1997) and Lips (1994, 1997a), who published a length of 450 m and a depth of 95 m (+45/-50 m). Plan according to Lips (1994).
