Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) was understood to give access to a rock shelter which was on 26th February 2005 alone found to range between a more or less large sandstone undercut cave below a waterfall (Simpson, F E 2005.02.25 Mss) or s/stone cave under wfall (Arbenz, T 2005.02 Mss) and a sandstone cave (Brooks, S J 2005.02.26 Mss). IDENTITY: Unknown. Compare: Synrang –>Urban and Krem –>Ur Blang. ETYMOLOGY: The meaning or origin of the strange -mynshu- remains in precisely that realm of thick fog which some call the abode of the clouds (note 1). So far, I saw this -synrang- (cave) with or without -krem- (cave) called Krem Synrang Mynshu Simpson, F E (2005.02.26 Mss); Arbenz, T (2005.02 Mss); Synrang Myrhu Brooks, S J (2005.02.26 Mss) Krem Synrang Myshu Simpson, F E (2005.02.25 Mss). POSITION: Unknown. The quick and easy GPS position, which had been recorded for the entrance to Krem (ornot Krem) Synrang Mynshu, Myrhu or Myshu (note 2) indicates a spot that lies stunningly far off (note 3) instead of near Cheruphi (Brooks, S J 2005.02.26 Mss). SITUATION: Unknown. Krem Synrang Myrhu [sic!] … at the foot of a picturesque waterfall [no name mentioned] (Brooks, S J 2005.02.26 Mss: Meghalaya Diary) on a stream without known name (possibly Mynshu) somewhere in the vincinity of one village (without GPS position) called Nongthymme (note 4), which lies in an unidentified spatial relation near Cheruphi (note 5). APPROACH: Take a safe seat, secure fragile items, and avoid awkward positions. Only then may dare to learn that the entrance to Krem Synrang Myshu (or so) is reached with the assistance of guardian angels by proceeding from an unidentified tea shop (without GPS Position) towards one of the many Nongthymme villages of Meghalaya. Already at an estimated travelling distance of about 500 m down road in an unidentified direction towards an unknown destination, you must takeleft track in an unidentified direction for 2 km in an unknown direction, then walk down hill for 20 mins in an unknown direction to large gully (Simpson, F E 2005.02.25 Mss). CAVE DESCRIPTION: Semi circular undercut cave roughly 30 m across. Height 15 m (Simpson, F E 2005.02.25 Mss) illustrated with a sketch stating a width of 30 m and a height of 10 m. CAVE POTENTIAL - Prospects: An unacknowledged local man with an unidentified name says it connects through hill where water sinks (in the words of F. E. Simpson) and therefore cave may continue [deleted: without] (Simpson, F E 2005.02.25 Mss).not Krem) Synrang Mynshu, Myrhu or Myshu (note 2) indicates a spot that lies stunningly far off (note 3) instead of near Cheruphi (Brooks, S J 2005.02.26 Mss).
