Description
An unspecified »group of caves« (CAMMIADE 1927: 11). SITUATION: »In the canyon that runs close to the north of the railway line at mile 308 [kilometre 495.572] of the Guntakal Bezwada railway …« (CAMMIADE 1927: 11). IDENTITY: The location »mile 308« (CAMMIADE 1927: 11) equals kilometre 495.572 but makes no sense to me because Krishnammakona Temple and Krishnammakona RS (note 1) is shown on my editions of the sheets 57-i/03 (1983) and 57-i/06 (1982) between kilometres 375 and and 380.
NOTE 1: On the one-hand side, »Kistawa Kona« (CAMMIADE 1927: 11) is indicated as »Krishnammakona Temple« (N15°29'40”: E078°14'50” Everest 1830) in the very top right corner of Survey of India sheet 57-1/03 (edition 1983) and on the other hand as »Krishnammakona RS« (railway station N15°30'07”: E078°15'02” Everest 1830) in the very bottom left corner of SI sheet 57-i/06 (edition 1982).

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 1996.12: Guided by M. Narayana Reddy (retd. S.P. = Special Police officer, Nandyal) I was not allowed to enter the area »north of the railway line« (at Krishnammakona) to visit this cave -- at that time an unsafe area out of control?
