Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

Not only the first of altogether four vertical but otherwise unspecified cave entrances (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified characteristics) but also a resurgence entrance (Krem –>Khung, Mooriap, 5th) gives access to an initially uninspiring complex of cave passages, which is not ideally suited for recreational expedition caving purposes because it is not only both narrow and low but also contains mud, pools and water in addition to unspecified secondary calcite formations (speleothems) and even mud choked side passages (Anonymous [Arbenz T, Brooks S J et al.] 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 6th February 2015 Friday). SITUATION: Not only in an unspecified setting but also in an unspecified spatial relation to the other cave entrances (three potholes and one resurgence) collectively called Krem Khung, which were shown somewhere in the vicinity around the Police outpost in Mooriap, to the left [of a self-centred person without orientation] and a few minutes walk [n an unidentified direction] down to a little valley [with an unidentified name] (Anonymous 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 4th February 2015 Wednesday). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2015.02.04: Four potholes of approximately 7 m deep known as Krem Khung (Anonymous [Arbenz T, Brooks S J et al.] 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 4th February 2015 Wednesday). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2015.02.05: A 9 metre drop to the floor (Anonymous 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 5th February 2015 Thursday). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2015.02.06: The pothole forming the 1st Krem Khung descends down to a horizontal part of the cave complex, which was narrow and low and changed direction after every few metres but allowed expedition cavers to hone their skill of crawling through the muddy wet passage to a degree that they reached another entrance which is a resurgence though the cave had a few formations and some low, mud choked side passages but one of them led to a small chamber with a passage leading to another exit (Anonymous 201504.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 6th February 2015 Friday). CAVE POTENTIAL 2015.02.04: Worth investigating (Anonymous 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 4th February 2015 Wednesday). CAVE POTENTIAL 2015.02.05: Krem Khung … is ongoing and to be revisited as the day was ending (Anonymous 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 5th February 2015 Thursday).CAVE POTENTIAL 2015.02.06: Richa, Peter and Fraser decided that visited part of the cave complex is -- for the time being -- better a cave completed (Anonymous 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 6th February 2015 Friday). CAVE LIFE: Noticed were on 6th February 2015 during daytime a few crabs and crayfish in the puddles, one solitary bat and some spiders (Anonymous [Arbenz T, Brooks S J et al.] 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 6th February 2015 Friday) or Arachnida, Crustacea conf. History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2015.02.04: An unidentified person (no name mentioned) indicated four cave entrances (potholes) of a Krem Khung near the Mooriap Police Outpost to Brian D. Kharpran Daly, had been accompanied by Daphyrnai Sariang from Umkyrpong (or, perhaps, from Mooriap) and an unidentified Scorpio driver called Ker [note 1] (Anonymous [Arbenz T, Brooks S J et al.] 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 4th February 2015 Wednesday). 2015.02.05, trip 1: Ker AA (no full name recognised), Peter Ludwig, Fraser E Simpson, Richa Jain and Ruben Cashler or Peter, Fraser, Richa, Ruben and Ker went out to explore the three caves that had been located by Brian, Ker and their local guide [Daphyrnai Sariang] the previous day. … Krem Khung was entered via a 9 metre drop to the floor, it is ongoing (Anonymous [Arbenz T, Brooks S J et al.] 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 5th February 2015 Thursday). 2015.02.06, trip 2: Fraser rigged the rope but a caving team comprised of Fraser E Simpson, Peter Ludwig Richa Jain and an unidentified local lad with an unrecognised name went down and surveyed … until they reached another entrance. A local lad accompanied the team into the cave and unlike them he used the tree roots to descend. On this occasion, rather a first topographical survey was aborted than the cave completed (Anonymous [Arbenz T, Brooks S J et al.] 2015.04.03 Mss: Diary 2015.docx 6th February 2015 Friday).
