Description

Tibetan sources refer to the Nagarjuna cave of Sankhu (see: Nagarjuna Caves) by the term klu-sgrub-kyi sgrub-khang. Is not as easily found as the caves 1 to 5 since it does not lie in the immediate neighbourhood of Vajrayogini temple itself but about 300 m further west on the same hill side. It is reached by traversing along the same contour through the paddy fields of the wide gully west of Vajrayogini temple. The super-dark shadow of the entrance (facing south-east) is -glowing- from a rocky outcrop amidst low vegetation. The rather irregularly shaped entrance is framed by a kind of masonry work that somehow reminds of a stout Gaelic cross. The small chamber is completely bare and features unusual, vertically slightly curved walls supporting the common flat, horizontal ceiling.
