PENDA POT 2 (aa -)
25.233300,90.833300
Description
Some 5 m east of the road, the about 0.7 by 0.7 m wide pothole drops 12 m down a narrow rift to a ledge, from where the pot enlarges, forming a bell shaped section, and descending another 22 m to a muddy floor (33 m down) in a small chamber with no way on. BROOKS et al. (1994b): »The smaller and less obvious pot [i.e. Penda Pot 2 = No-Line-Pot] on the other side of the track proved to be much deeper… Courageously (or foolishly, a 9 mm rope and an Italian Hitch!) descended by Brian, this pot opened out considerably lower down and proved to be some 34 m in depth but again having no way on.«CAVE CLIMATE: In the afternoon on 14th February 1994, some air current was felt to rise from the small cave entrance, hence »No Line Pot emits a strong draught« (BROOKS & SMART 1995: 44).
History
EXPLORATION HISTORY: 1994.02.14: Brian Johnson descended, looked around, and resurfaced. Following this, H. D. Gebauer measured the rope length between the belay and base knot tied by Brian: »Simon, Daniel and Brian accompanied by local forest guides visited and descended shafts near to Chutmung [sic!] peak« (BROOKS & SMART 1995: 21).
