BUNDI (Cave in)

An unspecified sort of cave an unknown location somewhere in Bundi State (note 1), is mentioned in a letter replying to a query (lost) of Edward Aubrey Glennie (note 2) and is, if this helps, associated with a certain Waddington (note 3). GEOLOGY: According to SONI, M K et al. (1987: 98), the best development of Rewa Limestone is recorded in Bundi (town at N25°26'30”: E075°38'30” WGS84), where it is about 80 to 180 m thick. Being the youngest, the Bhander Group of rocks occupy the largest exposed area in the Vindhyan basin. They are shallow marine lagoonal deposits with barrier beach dunes (SONI et al. 1987: 87). Although the Bhander is largely represented by argillaceous and arenaceous units, it is characterised at several places by thick stromatolitic limestone. The Bhander, developed in force in the central part of the Vindhyan basin, are recorded from north-east of Rewa to Sagar, in Bhopal inlier and also in Bundi and the Ranthambhore - Sapotra - Karauli belt of Rajasthan.
