BOREHOLE TE-2/W1, Ledung: Tshebar (Cave of)
26.875000,91.375000
Description
Relatively large solution cavities with unidentified dimensions and of dubious character and nature report DAS & PYNE (1999: 71-72 with geological map and cross sections 1: 4000) from … the western part of Ledung Ridge [note 1] (designated as Tashebar [sic!] Extension area) situated 1.5 km to the north-east of Tshebar [sic!] village in the Pemagatshel dzongkhag. The cross sections show an about 20 m thick Loose formation / Sludge; Cavernous which was encountered when sinking the boreholes TE-2/W1 and TE-3/W (about 100 m apart from each other) on the western slope of the north-west dipping (5° - 20°) outcrop of -sandwhiched- (interstratal) limestone (32.55 m to 52.40 m thick) which is underlain by carbonaceous phyllite and overlain by phyllite covered with scree and soil.Borehole TE-2 (1141.15 m asl) encountered 32.55 m limestone and TE-3 (1110.66 m asl) encountered 52.40 m. Borehole TE-2/W1 (1087 m asl): 2.8 m limestone + circa 20 m cavernous sludge (between ca. 1050 - 1070 m asl); Boehole TE-3/W1 (1050 m asl): 9.3 m limestone + circa 20 m cavernous sludge (between ca. 1025 - 1045 m asl).ehole TE-3/W1 (1050 m asl): 9.3 m limestone + circa 20 m cavernous sludge (between ca. 1025 - 1045 m asl).
