UMSHYNGIAR 2 (Krem)

Dug hole under low cliff to descending passage and 10 m pitch with ledge halfway. A steep spidery 2 m free climb down leads to a short vertical section into larger passage. Another short climb down brings one to a 7 m pitch and 3 m climb down to too tight rift (Jarratt 2002.02.20 Mss: Krem Umtyngier 2). SITUATION: Attention: The recorded coordinates (note 1), which pretend to position the whole lot of -Umtyngier- caves (renamed Umshyngiar) do NOT position any of the cave entrances (without identified spatial relation to each other) but just a spot somewhere near Krem –>Lyer in the Wah Umtyngier (Umshyngiar) basin below Tongseng village and on the eastern side of the Shnongrim ridge. APPROACH 1: By footpath from Tongseng village down ridge towards Krem –>Umthluh. Before reaching the monoliths, drop to the right (north-east) into the valley. The entrance lies in a deforested area (February 2002) adjacent to the large pothole of Krem –>Umtyngier or of Krem –>Mulale. APPROACH 2: By path fom Tongseng down ridge above Shaktiman track. Drop to the left (south-west) through jungle to deforested area. CAVE LIFE: Jarratt (2002.02.20 Mss: Krem Umtyngier 2) recorded Lizard, Heteropoda spider, and Tiger Leech at entrance! complete with exclamation mark! PROSPECTS: Finished. Maybe part of the Umthloo System. TACKLE: 15 m rope belayed to tree at entrance to reach bottom of first pitch. 10m rope and anchor for second pitch.om Tongseng down ridge above Shaktiman track. Drop to the left (south-west) through jungle to deforested area.
