CHAMERE ODAR, Batulechaur
28.258300,83.987500
Description
An about 4 m wide and 2 m high, north-east facing cave entrance gives access to some 20 m of accessible cave passage, which, due to ceiling collapse, ascends across fallen rocks up to a point where the pile of slabs and rock debris touches the cave ceiling. SITUATION: In the sloping ground above the eastern (orographically left) bank of the Kali Khola and about 170 m in a direct line ESE from the top of the steps descending down the formal cave entrance of the –>Mahendra Gufa. CULTURAL HISTORY: A local boy told me on 2nd February 1980 that this »Chamere Odar« (Bat Cave, literally: Bats' Home) once had been connected with –>Mahendra Gufa but an earthquake blocked the connection. The lost connection seems to be likely and the ceiling collapse due to an earthquake not impossible.
