Description
A cave called Krem Nien Ksheh once has been said to exist (Kharpran Daly, B D 2002.03.07 Mss: Wahlong / Pala, item -Pala #3 Krem Nien Ksheh) but never was identified. ETYMOLOGY: The origin and meaning of the Khasi cave name Krem Nien Ksheh (Kharpran Daly, B D 2002.03.07 Mss: Wahlong / Pala, item -Pala #3 Krem Nien Ksheh) has not yet been identified. There seems to exist no Khasi word like -nien- but it may be a corruption of the standard Khasi noun ”ka dieng- (feminine) or -u dieng” (masculine), a tree (SINGH, N 1906: 67; 1920: 539). There seems to exist no Khasi word like -ksheh- but it may be a corruption of the standard Khasi noun ”ka kseh” (feminine) a pine tree and ”u kseh” (masculine) a resinous wood (SINGH, N 1906: 49).IDENTITY: Krem Nien Ksheh (Pala) is possibly the same as the Krem Labit (Shengkse) which Bikin Paslein was said (Stead, J 2004.02.17 Mss: Krem Tyngheng + other caves in Sem Masi Area) to have reported from the vicinity of Samasi (I.B. N25°24'01.6”: E092°32'574” WGS84). SITUATION: At an unknown location somewhere in the vicinity of Pala (25°24'43”N: 92°34'09”E).
