Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

A rift used sports cavers as a training device that allows exercising, literally quoted, to descend gryke for about 2 m then traverse into rift. Straight down narrow rift 8.5 m with mud at bottom. Traverse further along and climb (handline) 3 m to mud floor. Squeeze through calcite and climb further down rift choked at the bottom. Too tight squeeze. No draft (Janossy, K 2007.02.25 Mss: Krem Mih Dohtli 2). APPROACH: Leave road at N25°21'44.3”: E092°32'18.7” [note 1] walk NE furthest N of 3 [deleted: holes] depressions in the area (Janossy, K 2007.02.25 Mss: Krem Mih Dohtli 2). SITUATION: Estimated 50 m (or so) approximately north-east of the main road going to Litan tea shop (Pelletier, G 2008.02.09 Mss: MooMoo Land -01). POSITION 2007: Near (unspecified precision error except wishfully imagined ±8 m) N25°21'46.6”: E092°32'20.7” (unidentified geodetic datum, Janossy, K 2007.02.25 Mss: Krem Mih Dohtli 2): 950 m asl (Brooks, S J after Janossy, K 2007.02.25 GPS Garmin Etrex) orhorizontally 34.0 m in a direct line due south but vertically 14 m higher up near POSITION 2008: Near (unspecified precision error except bogus ±10 m) N25°21'45.5”: E092°32'20.7”: 964 m asl (unidentified geodetic datum, Pelletier, G 2008.02.09, unidentified GPS receiver, in: Pelletier, G 2008.02.09 Mss: MooMoo Land -01). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2007a: Descend gryke for about 2 m then traverse into rift. Straight down narrow rift 8.5 m with mud at bottom. Traverse further along and climb (handline) 3 m to mud floor. Squeeze through calcite and climb further down rift choked at the bottom. Too tight squeeze [note 2] (Janossy, K 2007.02.25 Mss: Krem Mih Dohtli 2). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2007b: Krem Mih Dohtli 2 allowed on Sunday 25th February (2007.02.25) to perform exercising to descend 20 m in two short pitches to a bottom (JARRATT & DAWSON 2007). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2008: Three gully linking into one canyon (most likely on the surface) but no cave entrance as such. Once inside the cave, a narow pitch drops 8 m down to a muddy floor while going over it lead to the rest [sic! for: main part] of the cave: 1.5 m large passage with formation [i.e. secondary calcite formations, speleothems]. Becomes too small (Pelletier, G 2008.02.09 Mss: MooMoo Land -01). SPELEOMETRY: A current annual shrinking rate in the range of 16.67% is indicated by finding the estimated -survey- length of 30 m (Janossy 2007.02.25 Mss) in February 2007 reduced to an estimated -survey- length of 25 m (Pelletier 2008.02.09 Mss) in February 2008. Brooks, S L (anonymous, undated Mss amendment to Janossy, K 2007.02.25 Mss: Krem Mih Dohtli 2) opines the application of 20 m rope + slings would help to survey and map this rift cave properly. PROSPECTS 2007: On the one-hand side a … rift choked at the bottom but on the other a too tight squeeze [note 3] (Janossy, K 2007.02.25 Mss: Krem Mih Dohtli 2). PROSPECTS 2008: A relatively narrow pitch ends on a muddy floor while the rest of the cave … becomes too small note 4] (Pelletier, G 2008.02.09 Mss: MooMoo Land -01). CAVE CLIMATE: An unspecified time on 25th February 2007 existed no draft [note 5] (Janossy, K 2007.02.25 Mss: Krem Mih Dohtli 2) noticed) but there was no airflow at all at an unspecified time on 9th February 2008 (Pelletier, G 2008.02.09 Mss: MooMoo Land -01).ow pitch drops 8 m down to a muddy floor while going over it lead to the rest [sic! for: main part] of the cave: 1.5 m large passage with formation [i.e. secondary calcite formations, speleothems]. History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2007.02.25, trip 1: Katharina 'Kate' Janossy, Neil Pacey and Henry Rockcliff locate, explore + make evaluation (Brooks undated 2006 amendment to Janossy 2007.02.25 Mss) or Krem Mih Dohtli 2 (Janossy 2007.02.25 Mss). According to Pelletier (2008.02.09 Mss: MooMoo Land -01), this cave was found on 25/02/07 by Neil Pacy (?) … According to JARRATT & DAWSON (2007), Neil, Henry R. and Kate bottomed … Krem Mih Dohtli 2 at 20 m after two short pitches. 2008.02.09, trip 2: Anthony 'Tony' R Jarratt and Guillaume Pelletier (2008.02.09 Mss 'MooMoo Land -01' dated friday 9th, Feb 2008) visited, entered, and explored (note 6).
