Description

Another doline without specified shape or size. Inside, there are two cave entrances without specified shape or size, which lie at an unspecified spatial relation to each other, give access to a pothole or two which drop some 16 m down, and connect underground to each other. ETYMOLOGY (Brooks, S J et al. 2009.02 Mss -Diary 2009.doc- Thursday 19th): The … doline that was believed to be Mooput 5 [i.e. Krem Mupud 5 Jarratt 2003] … proved to be another new [sic! qua: previously overlooked] doline that … was named Mooput 5A in spite of the fact that -put- means to sound a wind instrument (SINGH, N 1906: 165) while the Khasi -maw pud- and the Synteng -mu pud- is the boundery stone (SINGH, N 1906: 164) after which the first -Mupud- caves were called (note 1). SITUATION (Brooks, S J et al. 2009.02 Mss -Diary 2009.doc- Thursday 19th): In an unspecified spatial relation nearby Krem –>Mupud 5 (Jarratt 2003) and Krem –>Mupud 6 (Brooks 2009). POSITION: According to Arbenz, T (2009.06.01 Mss: total2009.xls), the three distinct entrances to Krem Moopud 5/5A and Krem Moopud 6 are all positioned near N25°20'37.7”: E092°29'51.4”: 1113 m as if the three distinct voids would occupy one and the same space. This seems to be unlikely. CAVE DESCRIPTION (Brooks, S J et al. 2009.02 Mss -Diary 2009.doc- Thursday 19th): The most northern of the two shafts … proved to be a 16 m deep shaft that connected to the second shaft and an aven chamber and closed. SPELEOMETRY: Arbenz, T (2009.06.01 Mss: total 2009.xls) counts not only the Moopud 5/5A but also Moopud 6 as one and lists the survey lengths 16.48 m (16.02.2009) and 78.44 m (19.02.2009) adding up to 94.92 m (survey 2009 = total 2009).2009.xls), the three distinct entrances to Krem Moopud 5/5A and Krem Moopud 6 are all positioned near N25°20'37.7”: E092°29'51.4”: 1113 m as if the three distinct voids would occupy one and the same space. History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2009.02.19: Simon J. Brooks, Peter Ludwig and Pankaj Rai (Seaman 1st Class, Indian Navy), in company with Brian D. Kharpran Daly, Jean-Pierre Bartholeyns, and Chaphrapng Passah (Jowia Press, TV) … walked from camp to the Mooput Area (sic! qua: Mupud) where … Pankaj cut through the forest to gain access to a doline that was believed to be Mooput 5 [i.e. Krem Mupud 5 Jarratt 2003]. This, in fact, proved to be another new doline that had two shafts in it. This was named Mooput 5A … rigged by Peter _x005F_x005F_x005F 37 m of passage surveyed (Brooks, S J et al. 2009.02 Mss 'Diary 2009.doc' Thursday 19th). Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018
