Description
An inhabitable but otherwise unspecified cave (no name mentioned) had been used in 1862 as a hide-out somewhere at (near?) Shangpung (note 1). CULTURAL HISTORY - human use (hide-out): BAREH, H (1967 / 1985, 1997: 169): For the whole year 1862, the disturbance was on the intense scale. The late Rev. Khnong (my grandfather), has left for us a typical account of the situation: -During the war which took place in 1862 our family shifted to our fields. Shangpung rose in revolt against government under their leader, U Giri Daloi Jait Dhar. My uncle … hid in a cave together with my father. CAVE POTENTIAL: Somewhere at (or near) Shangpung, there is also one (the same?)
