Description

An unspecified man-made tunnel (unidentified size, unidentified function), which houses bats (Chiroptera), position SENACHA (2007: 33 table, item 11) in Mandvi taluka (town near N22°50': E69°22') at suspiciously over-accurate coordinates (note 1), inside the premises of Shri Panch Ganga temple about 3 km east of Gadhsisa village (note 2). ETYMOLOGY: Since -panch- means five (5), -ganga- is a stream or river, and -mandir- is a temple, this cult spot is probably associated with a spring where the rising water is made to emerge from five sprouts. CAVE LIFE: SENACHA (2007: 33 table, item 11) record a colony of about 50 or 70 Lesser Mouse-tailed bats (Chiroptera: Rhinopoma hardwickei Gray 1831).An unspecified man-made tunnel (unidentified size, unidentified function), which houses bats (Chiroptera), position SENACHA (2007: 33 table, item 11) in Mandvi taluka (town near N22°50': E69°22') at suspiciously over-accurate coordinates (note 1), inside the premises of Shri Panch Ganga temple about 3 km east of Gadhsisa village (note 2).
