An unspecified Hindagalla Cave, Namunukula (note 1) of unknown nature and character is not only good for swiftlets (Collocalia brevirostris Jerdon) but also for their parasites. SITUATION (MAA 1980: 842 after W W A Phillips 1954.07.04): In the Hindagalla Estate and at an elevation of 5000 feet (1520 m asl), in the Uva Hills, near the mountain, village or estate of Namunukula (note 2) and, of course, in one way or another inland from –>Caltura (TENNENT 1860: 248). The Survey of Ceylon (later: Survey of Sri Lanka) sheet -Nuwara Eliya- (One-Inch series, 1972 edition) indicates both the estate Hindagalla and the village of Namunukula at a travelling distance of 10 miles (16 km) alsong the road from Ella (N06°52': E081°03') generally east towards Passara (N06°56': E081°09'). CAVE LIFE: MAA (1980: 842-843, fig. 9) gives taxonomical descriptions louse flies (Diptera: Hippoboscidae: Myophthiria Rondani 1878) including M. zeylanica sp. nov. (note 3), of which two male paratypes (descried by H. Oldroyd as M. lygaeoides) collected W.W.A.
