An unidentified temple cave sacred to Padmasambhava is said to contain a probably late 20th century Buddha image of relatively huge (read: unspecified) size. IDENTITY: Compare the –>Rewalsar Mountain Cave-Refuge (note 1). ETYMOLOGY: Since -sar- is a word for a lake the toponym Rewalsar Lake translates as Rewal Lakelake. SITUATION: The religious industry centre Rewalsar lies at a travelling distance of 24 km along the road south-west of Mandi (note 2). The entrance to the sacred cave lies at a place, which is reached by a steep 30-minute hike heading for prayer flags at the top of a hill (note 3).
