Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 15/07/2016

A tiny cave sanctuary in laminated schist (Precambrian) lies about halfway between Galeshwar (Galeshvar, Jaleshor) and Kalipul (north of Beni) on the right (western) bank of Kali Gandaki valley. It shelters some speleothems (flowstone, a short calcite column), a bit of a pool and several venerated stones in a single chamber (1 m broad, 3 m long and 2 m high) of tetrahedric shape. CHABERT (1996.11.15 Mss): »The Jaleshor Gupha is already in your files.

Gebauer found the door open and the small, walled-off room behind in an apparent state of neglect. 1996.04.22: Claude Chabert and Nicole "Niki" Boullier visited and mapped to BCRA-grade 5b.
