Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

A sunny, colourful grotto sacred to Catholic Christians, has been erected (note 1) from angular rocks and much mortar in the court of a church overlooking the market in Pernem (note 2). The triple-spired structure (two lateral, horn-like spires to the left and right of a cross-topped central one, some 4 m high) carries not only the grotto itself (90° triangle lintel above five-cornered, locked glass window) but also a curious, squarish -spirit hole- (sort of a crypta?) in the rough masonry below.A sunny, colourful grotto sacred to Catholic Christians, has been erected (note 1) from angular rocks and much mortar in the court of a church overlooking the market in Pernem (note 2).
