The tunnels will be either 'closed', 'under repair' or 'inhabited by a cobra' but bring a torch (flashlight) and ask nicely at one of the government offices inside the fort and you may be offered a glimpse of a damp chamber (LONELY PLANET, Kerala 2000: 228).
