According to some Internet websites, the Bandhavgarh National Park is dotted with many caves with ancient rock paintings and carvings and best visited between February and June because unspecified several of the Bandhagarh rock chambers are reputed to contain rock art including inscriptions in Brahmi script and relief sculptures of tiger, pig, elephant and hoseman. CAVE DESCRIPTION 1997: Bandhavgarh's setting is impressive. It's named after the ancient fort built on 800 m-high cliffs. There's a temple at the fort that can be visited by jeep and below it are numerous rock-cut cave shrines (LONELY PLANET, India 1997: 799; 2001: 718). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2005: Snug in the Vindhyan mountain range wih rolling hills and grassy plains, Bandhavgarh is named after the ancient fort built on 800 m high cliffs. There's a temple at the fort but visiting requires an uphill hike and a guide. Below in the rocks are numerous rock-cut shrines (LONELY PLANET, India 2005: 635). CAVE LIFE: A video clip, which had been broadcast in late autumn or early winter of 2000 and was received at Shillong (Meghalaya) showed lots of bats (Chiroptera) emerging from the entrance (an estimated 2 m wide and 1.5 m high) of a cave within the Bandhavgarh National Park (Brian D.
