Description
A rock shelter or cave with rock art in »red pigment« (note 1) or ochre (?) is situated at a certain Dharan Ghat (note 2) near one village of »Peepurdar« (note 3) in the vicinity of »Bijaygarh« (Bijaigarh Fort N24°34'20": E83°11'00": 576 m asl Everest 1830).
NOTE 1: COCKBURN (1883b: 126); DRAKE BROCKMANN (1911: 197-200). NOTE 2: Near the village of Dharan (N24°33'50": E83°12'20" Everest 1830): 470 m asl (Survey of India sheet 63-P/02 edition 1971), there are two suitable ghats or fords near N24°34'05": E83°12'20": 390 m asl and N24°33'40": E83°12'20": 390 m asl. NOTE 3: »Peepurdar« (COCKBURN 1883b: 126) is not identified unless it corresponds --but this is mere guesswork-- to »Paparawa« indicated near N24°31'40”: E83°12'15” (Everest 1830) on Survey of India sheet 63-P/02 (edition 1971) about 3 or 4 km in a direct line south-east of Bijaigarh Fort N24°34'25”: E83°11'00”: 576 m asl (Everest 1830).
