Description

Unspecified ancient caves and tunnels excavated [probably by humans but perhaps by nature from] within the thick massive flows of the Deccan-Trap basalts report SARKAR, FRIEDMANN & KARMALKAR (1998) from three different speleothem sampling sites (note 1) of which one is called K.P. = Kanhur Pathar and probably represents either a Kanhur Hill as such or an anonymous hill (with some name) near a place called Kanhur (note 2). IDENTITY: Compare the –>Ahmednagar Tunnels (BECKER 1927). SITUATION: SARKAR et al (1998 unpaginated page 132, figure 1B) do not bother to consider any topographical details whatsoever but provide a tiny location maplet (80 mm by 63 mm, without coordinates) with a legend explaining K.P. = Kanhur Pathar and showing KP next to a dot adjacent approximately south-west of the town of Ahmednagar (N19°05': E074°44'). CAVE DESCRIPTION: SARKAR et al (1998: 133, figure 2) do not bother to consider from what kind of place they collected their carbonate samples.Unspecified ancient caves and tunnels excavated [probably by humans but perhaps by nature from] within the thick massive flows of the Deccan-Trap basalts report SARKAR, FRIEDMANN & KARMALKAR (1998) from three different speleothem sampling sites (note 1) of which one is called K.P. = Kanhur Pathar and probably represents either a Kanhur Hill as such or an anonymous hill (with some name) near a place called Kanhur (note 2).
