Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) is said to give access to a somewhat exceedingly small cave of unspecified dimensions which Louise VARNEDOE (1980: 49) and Bill Varnedoe noticed while trekking from Dhaulaghat (30 miles = 50 km east from Kathmandu) across the grain of Mt. Everest in search of caves and limestone. On the long run, Louise VARNEDOE (1980: 49) discovered that the anonymous cave near Kumjung was the only evidence of caves or cave-like formations in this part of Nepal. ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known name has been identified for what has been christened cave near Kumjung (VARNEDOE 1980: 49) after the name of a more or less nearby populated place.SITUATION: In an unspecified spatial relation near Kumjung and thus about 2 km in a direct line approximately north of Namche Bazaar.
