Description
Unspecified Kalan rock caves on the »Srinagar [note 1] - Chilas [note 2] route« placed Major N. N. Thomas (note 3) from »somewhere near head of Bundar Nala [note 4] and about two miles [3 km south-east] from Barai pass. Sheet 43-I/8 [ sic! for: 43-I/04, note 5].« About 30 km in a direct line south-west of Nanga Parbat.

NOTE 4: The »Bunder Nala« (Bunder stream) of Thomas (in Glennie (s.a.): Appendix B: Kashmir State.- ) corresponds to the "Bunder Nar" which rises near 35°03'N: 74°04'E (AMS sheet NI43-08 Gilgit, 1963 edition) on the south-eastern side ot the Barai Gali (35°04'N: 74°03'E), the pass 3 km in a direct line southwest of the village of Barai near 35°05'N: N74°14' (AMS sheet NI43-08 Gilgit, 1963 edition). NOTE 5: The Survey of India sheet 43-I/08, erroneously? recommended by Thomas (or, perhaps, by Glennie) covers the area (35°00'N: 74°15'E to 35°15'N: 74°30'E) adjacent west of the apparently relevant sheet 43-I/04.
