Unspecified and unexplored but apparently inhabitable rock-shelters (Indian Archaeology: A Review [IAR] 1982-83 / 1985: 133) may consist of true caves, complete with dark or aphotic / stygian zones. SITUATION: Mahesam district, Taranga Hill: Rock shelters near Taranmata temple and Jogida Gupha (Indian Archaeology: A Review [IAR] 1982-83 / 1985: 133). Taranga Hill, railway station and railway head (23°57'N: 72°42'E nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003) indicated on AMS sheet NF43-01 Ahmadabad (U502 series, 1959 edition) and India Road Atlas, Eicher Goodearth (2006: 51 E3).
