Numerous low caves and rock-shelters or natural caverns (note 1), probably in gneiss, reported FOOTE (1879) from Kulathur, Kolatur, Kulattur (note 2). SITUATION 1879: The low caves (FOOTE 1879: 144-145) are two miles (about 3 km) south of Kolatur or Kulathur, which lies from kilometre 20 or 23 (or so) off west the National Highway NH45 from Tiruchchirappalli (note 3) south-west to Dindigul (N10°21': E077°57').
