A 3 m wide and 5 m high [cave] entrance [gives access] to a [relatively] small chamber with several ways on, which choke with [the] exception of [an] aven with rubbish on floor. Length [30 m] and depth [30 m is] estimated (Harper, Rob undated 2001 February Mss: Krem Shella Jalsir). ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known name has been identified for a cave which outsiders named after the village of Jasir (note 1) or Jalsir (note 2) and recorded on the one-hand side as Krem Shella Jalsir (note 3) but on the other as Jasir Village (near to Nongtrai) N25 11’ 49.6” E091 38’ 10.0” WSG 84) (Brooks, S J 2012.08.26 -Some more villages and more cave GPS locations- personal correspondence). SITUATION: The entrance to this cave was understood to lie not only in an unspecified setting but also in an unspecified spatial relation near (McManus, Stuart in: Harper, Rob 2002.04.31 Mss -megahlay.doc- item # 35) to the 2nd cave near –>Shella (McManus 2001). APPROACH: The assistance of alocal guide is essential to … follow up one of the sets of steps in Disong to a house below which is the cave (Harper, Rob 2001 February undated Mss: Krem Shella Jalsir; Harper, Rob 2002.04.31 Mss -megahlay.doc- item # 35). POSITION 2001: The GPS position North 25/11/48.8 & East 091/38/9.9 (McManus, Stuart in: Harper, Rob 2002.04.31 Mss -megahlay.doc- item # 35) recorded for the entrance to Krem Shella Jalsir does NOT indicate any location above or below the village of Disong (note 4) but a spot which lies opposite across the river Umiew (note 5) from Disong and not only in the western (orographically right) flood plains of the riverbed, but also less than half a kilometre north-east from where the Survey of India toposheet 78-O/12 (edition 1937) indicates the location of the village of Lyba is indicated near (±150 m) N25°11'40”: E091°38'00” WGS84 modified from N25°11'40”: E091°38'10” Everest 1830). POSITION 2012: The GPS position N25 11’ 49.6” E091 38’ 10.0” (WSG 84) (unspeciied precision error, unidentified recorder, undated), which has been recorded for a certain Jasir Village (Near to Nongtrai) (Brooks, S J 2012.08.26 Mss, probably after Kyle Wayne Baker or Ryan Baker), indicates a spot which lies only 25 m in a direct line approximately north (24.7 m north and 2.8 m east) from the GPS position recorded for the cave entrance to Krem Shella Jalsir (Stuart McManus in: Harper, Rob 2001 February undated Mss: Krem Shella Jalsir; Harper, Rob 2002.04.31 Mss -megahlay.doc- item # 35). CAVE POTENTIAL: Since Helen Harper and Stuart McManus noticed the existence several ways on which choke (Harper, Rob 2001 February undated Mss: Krem Shella Jalsir; Harper, Rob 2002.04.31 Mss: megahlay.doc), one or several impenetrable or enterable cave passages are known to continue unexplored.local guide is essential to … follow up one of the sets of steps in Disong to a house below which is the cave (Harper, Rob 2001 February undated Mss: Krem Shella Jalsir; Harper, Rob 2002.04.31 Mss -megahlay.doc- item # 35).
